The EMHD Initiative is established to ensure that mental health services and supports are acceptable, accessible, affordable, appropriate, available and delivered in culturally and linguistically competent ways. Further, the EMHD Initiative seeks to improve the quality of care and outcomes from services for all groups who encounter barriers that lead to disparate results. These include disparities associated with diverse populations based on race, ethnicity, gender, gender expression, sexual orientation, disability, religion, socioeconomic status, geography, language, immigration status and family composition.
The overall goal of EMHD Initiative is to develop and implement strategies that will facilitate the elimination of disparities in mental health services across the lifespan. This goal will be accomplished by:
